Pro Grade Kettlebells FAQ

"Buy the best tools and learn to use them properly"

Paul Tucker - Australia's leading kettlebell lifter

"Train like the pros and demand the best of yourself with professional kettlebells. You will feel the difference in quality and precision immediately"

Steve Cotter - World renowned kettlebell and physical training coach

Pro Grade Kettlebells are the best kettlebells in the business. They offer serious kettlebell lifters advantages over traditional kettlebells. This page has been put together to answer your questions and help you make an informed decision.

Here's a video of Steve Cotter explaining the advantages of the Pro Grade kettlebell.

What are the main differences between Pro Grade Kettlebells and traditional kettlebells?

This is the most common question we receive. Pro Grade Kettlebells are made to specific specifications and are used in all international kettlebell competitions.

Most notably each Pro Grade Kettlebell is the same size. The actual physical dimension of the bell doesn't change. The size stays uniform throughout, whether it be an 8kg or 48kg kettlebell. Traditional kettlebells get larger in size as the weight increases.

What are the benefits of Pro Grade Kettlebells?

The uniform size makes it easier to learn the exercises and progress up and down weights. You don't have to alter your technique to accommodate the different size, dimension and balance of the weight. It's a one size fits all approach.

The Pro Grades are made from steel (not cast iron) and will last a lifetime. They are indestructible and therefore not uncommon for kettlebells to be handed down from generation to generation. It's fair to say that a Pro Grade kettlebell will out live all of us.

The Pro Grade handle is slimmer than with the traditional models. This prevents lateral slipping and also minimizes fatigue with high rep sets. But don't think your grip won't get a workout with Pro Grades - it will still get a genuine workout.

Finally, the Pro Grades have better ballistic properties due to a larger mass in the ball of the bell. In exercises like cleans and snatches the bell will rotate around your wrist more easily and more naturally. This makes it easier to assume the correct 'rack' and overhead lockout position. This is one reason they're the choice of top kettlebell lifters from around the world.

Are Pro Grades for me?

Ultimately the choice has to be yours. But here's a few guidelines;

If your goals are based around endurance and high repetition then the Pro Grades are ideal.
If you want to test yourself with the tool of champions then you should consider the Pro Grade bells.
If you want to compete in the sport of kettlebell lifting (Girevoy Sport) then you should get these bells. At the end of the day kettlebells are most suited to strength endurance based training and this is where the Pro Grade kettlebells are far superior for those high rep sets.

Are Pro Grades for the ladies?

There's no reason why ladies can't use these kettlebells. We have found that many ladies prefer the smaller sized coloured kettlebells but there's no reason why they can't use the Pro Grades high end performance is their goal.
