What do I have to do to become certified?

The information covered in the course is both extensive and intensive and covers a broad range of strength training theory, application and instruction. In order to ensure that Australian Kettlebell Instructors are of the highest national standard, certain strict criteria must be met before you can reach full certification status.

We recommend that participants have as least used kettlebells before attending the course, as everyone will need to pass both the practical and written exam on the day. Those who fail will need to be re-tested at a later date at an additional cost.

You must be able to:
  • Demonstrate and perform each exercise to a high standard
  • Demonstrate adequate teaching progressions, identify common mistakes and corrections for all Kettlebell drills covered
  • Display maximum safety and spotting techniques at all times
All of these will be covered in the course.

Although the theory covered will be extremely comprehensive, we do rely on a solid theoretical and practical background in the field of health and fitness. We understand that a 2 day course will in no way prepares you to be a proficient instructor at anything, so in order to achieve certification status you must at least possess a Certificate IV in fitness to qualify for adequate insurance.

The course will be invaluable for any individual interested in Kettlebell training, so we have made it available to any Kettlebell enthusiast nationally that is interested in attending. But please be aware that you will not receive your full certification unless you can produce a certificate III or higher and pass both the practical and theoretical exam on the day.

Registrants will be sent the comprehensive 200+ page course manual prior to attending. We encourage you to thoroughly read and study all contained within before arriving on the day.

"Rick, Ben and Phil run a great course.  Kettlebells are a great tool to add to your armoury, and these guys teach and inform you how to use them in a professional and very informative way.  Between the three of them there is a great blend of practical experience and formal academic qualification.  A busy two days, but well worth the effort, I now feel very ready to go and bring the Kettlebell experience and benefits to my general clients and athletes alike"
Russell Jarrett - Jarrett Consulting
(Business Coach, Presenter, Level 2 Strength and Conditioning Coach)

This is for all you gals out there who want to lose weight, look and feel good.

Forget commercial gyms, Jenny Craig, yogalates and most other forms of exercise…kettlebells rule!

Why?

Having returned to a regular training regime after 15 years of being a stay at home mum, where life was to hectic for exercise and you guessed it, I was what you would describe as being calorie enhanced. Getting back in shape was what I wanted, but the thought of committing to traditional exercise routines did not appeal to me.

What to do? In 2005 I was introduced to a kettlebell. Like most people, the first question I asked, “What do you do with it?” Well, for the next three years I used the kettlebell intermittently, mainly as an aside to traditional conditioning routines. In 2007 I decided to obtain my fitness instructor qualification. Deciding what to use as my main training tool, I found the KB to be the most effective and efficient. Kettlebell training is cost effective, time efficient and most of all yields incredible results…fast!

Recently I attended the AKI which provided a more detailed insight to the benefits of kettlebell training. What I got out of the two days with Phil, Ben and Rick was more than I ever expected. The course was 2 days of quality instruction, professionally organized, extremely thorough, skill intensive and most importantly I walked away with complete confidence that I have certainly stepped up to the next level of instruction, not just with kettlebells, but with all manner of physical transformation protocols.

The AKI instruction team left nothing uncovered, when it came to body reconditioning. They were instrumental in fine tuning my own exercise and lifting technique, as well as providing key principles in the teaching and coaching of not only kettlebell training, but techniques related to various strength and conditioning principles. I strongly recommend any Personal Trainer whether you have been using KBs for 5 years or 5 minutes to do this course. Regards
Karen Elliott
